Hi Bashrat,

just wanted to say that the /USEPMTIMER switch was still not applied with latest driverpack 6.08.3. Don´t know if you fixed that yet or not but it did not work.

Bye :-)
Alex

HI !

I already wrote this in the old MSFN forum a few months ago,

The problem is not only the HDBUS driver installation (I have the same problems as Lieblingsbuch) but also (or related) to the Sigmatel driver used in the driverpack.

The Sigmatel HD Audio driver included in your driverpack is being installed during windows setup but there is no audio ;-) If I have a look in the Audio and Multimedia control panel, Windows reports that no audio card is installed.

If I manually install the driver supplied by Sony, everything is fine.

I have uploaded that driver to my webspace here:
http://members.chello.at/afmusic/Audio.rar

If you have some time, could you have a look and maybe find out why it does not work with the Sigmatel codec in your driverpack ?

Bye,
Alex

Anyway ...

I deleted the DPs_BASE.ini I had from the 6.06 base, started with a fresh one and now it seems to work. Don´t know what it was but thanks for your help anyway !

Bye,
Alex

Hi bashrat,

no thats not it. I never had this file open, also I just was able to delete the file manually ;-)
This did not happen with the last 6.06 base either ...

Hi bashrat,

started 6.08.02 slipstream process and got this error message:

Hi Bashrat,

even though you say you will not abandon this project, one day you may be forced to do just that or how will you be able to attend to a full time job, a family (or even just partner) and maybe some friends while still updating your driverpacks on a regular basis. I know from personal experience that sometimes projects like these have to die because there is just not enough time and because personal interests shift towards other things ...

You might consider two solutions if you care about the project (which I am sure you do). To the community: before I say this, please don´t hate me for doing so, it is just a suggestion ! ;-)

First solution could be to go professional with your project. You don´t have to sell it for hundreds of bucks but if you feel that 20.- (just some number) is fair (I do), then charge it. If that is too little, you might do a combination of charging and online ads. After all, why not ? You offer a service and people need it so ...

Second solution: Go open source so that other people can work on this together with you. If you don´t have time, maybe someone else has. This project is too valuable to depend on one person if you ask me. ( this is no accusation towards you, Bashrat. You are wonderful. But as said above, who knows if you will have time for this project forever ? )

Just my 2 cents ...

By the way ... I would donate but paypal is not my thing at all. Had a very bad experience with them and have ignored them since. Maybe their service improved in the meantime but I was very angry at them once ...

Bye,
Alex

Hi Bashrat,

the device ID of the CPU is

ACPI\AUTHENTICAMD_-_X86_FAMILY_15_MODEL_35\_0
ACPI\AUTHENTICAMD_-_X86_FAMILY_15_MODEL_35\_1

As for the HD audio patch not installing correctly, this still does not work with 6.06.1.
Don´t know if it should already.

As for the english Hardware wizard ... JR posted a possible reason above. Don´t know if it is true though ...

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Bashrat,

M-Audio released new drives for the Delta Audio series. Since it comes as an installer that cannot be extracted to show the actual driver files, I uploaded them to my webspace (the drivers show up in the temp directory after installation):

Download it from here:

http://members.chello.at/afmusic/Delta_ … 5052v3.rar

Thanks for integrating it into the next DP Sound !
Bye,
Alex

Hi Bashrat,

I did a search for newdev ;-) so newdev.dl_ should have been found as well. Ok, I will copy the file manually ;-)

Thanks,
Alex

ah ...

there are two files named newdev_SP1.dll and newdev_SP2.dll in the KB883667.7z file inside the bin dir of the drivepack base ;-)

Would it be ok if I manually copy the file newdev_SP2.dll to the I386 folder (renamed to newdev.dll of course) or is there anything else to do? I guess I would need the SP2 file for Windows XP SP2 ??

Thanks,
Alex

Hi !

Seems like the new driverpack base 6.06.1 introduced a new bug or something. During the Windows Setup copy process I always get the error that the file newdev.dll cannot be copied. At first I thought the disc was broken so I tried two other discs, always the same problem.

Then I took a look at the I386 dir on my installation source and there was no newdev.dll. I also took a look at the Original WinXP SP2 CD but newdev.dll does not seem to be a Microsoft file. Since I did not integrate anything else but the driverpacks I gather that this must somehow be a file that should have been integrated by the driverpacks ...

Anyone else have this problem ? Any solution ?
I am integrating all driverpacks (latest) and using M2.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Bashrat,

here´s a few things that I noticed during todays installations using the latest packs available today:

Using method 2 by the way :-)

1. /USERPMTIMER switch was not applied to boot.ini on my AMD X2 PC. Is this supposed to work already or not ?

2. The ATI CCC was not installed altough I chose it during slipstream process.

3. Problem three in this thread:
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=67

(HD Audio is left as a PCI device with ! mark in device manager) still happed with driverpack base 6.06. By the way ... the German version of the KB888111 installer was not accepted to fix the above problem, only the english version ...

4. Suddenly on my German Windows XP the "Hardware Upgrade Wizard" is in English !! This never happened before and it is a fresh new installation. No big deal but not really nice either ;-)

Other than that, great work as usual, keep it up please ! ;-)
Bye,
Alex

Hi Bashrat,

thanks that would be really great and it would help reduce some calls for help you will certainly get if this line gets deleted ;-)

Bye,
Alex

Hi again,

no that did not help at all. But I know the reason for this ... somehow the line

    OemPreinstall=Yes

got deleted from winnt.sif ;-)

Bye,
Alex

Hi Vier

thanks for the answer.

mhh, making the slipstream process before creating the $OEM$ folder is out of the question because this folder stays the same all the time while the driverpacks change frequently so I would have to recreate the $OEM$ folder each time I slipstream the driverpacks ?

That cannot be the solution ;-)

Also ... what do you mean by "create" ? It is just a folder that has some files in it ;-) There is nothing to recreate ;-)

Anyway, I have now completey deleted the I386 folder and will start with a fresh source from my XP SP2 installation CD. The $OEM$ folder stays however. ;-)

Bye,
Alex

Hi Bashrat,

just found out that your new driverpack slipstream process must somehow have broken the $OEM$ folder copy process during Windows installation.

All the content of this folder is not being copied to C:, Windows dir oder Programs folder anymore (contents of $1,$$,$Docs and $Progs dirs) . It worked fine before and I have not changed anything except slipstreaming the newest driverpacks with the latest base 6.05.2

By the way ... is it normal that method 2 creates a OEM folder next to the $OEM$ folder in the installation root ? Maybe thats the problem (I never used method 2 before, always method 1)

Thanks for your help !!!
Bye,
Alex

PS:

What did you change in winnt.sif ? I cannot find any difference between the original and the new one ;-)
