i belive that the ODD is not being found during PE...

if i knw which interface your ODD used it would help me to help you...
IE it is probably IDE or SATA but could be SCSI or USB. just tell me already... hmm
can you describe the the wire that connects your DVD drive to the MB since you don't seem to know what interface it utilizes.

I still don't know if your DVD is a SATA device...

here is what intrigues me now that we know it is un7zip complaining.

un7zip is in the same location as the packs... it can find the program but not the packs... hmmm...
let's take a look at presetup.cmd if there is a problem that is DriverPacks related it would have to be in that file.
presetup.cmd is the file that runs during WinPE (the portion of setup you are having trouble with)
and it calls un7zip during WinPE and is the only part of DriverPacks that is active during WinPE phase of the install

Yeah that is exactly what i was thinking...

his presetup.cmd file is two years old...
he downloaded a very old torrent, and does not have a legit copy of the OS...
at least he had the good sense not to admit it wink
an therefore it is an unsupported issue. this is reinforced by the fact he has no clue about DriverPacks.

you need to get an unmodified (no driverpacks added) OEM windows XP cd... wink

then the repair will work just fine...

When you used DriverPacks BASE to install the DriverPacks into your source files, a log was created in the same folder as DriverPacks BASE...

I wish to see it. You can search your hdd for the file name. wink

I never got the answer to the questions,
- "Is your ODD SATA or IDE" (ODD, Optical Disk Drive - Yours is a DVD I believe in this case...)
- nor "do you have any card readers installed" - although the hwids do tell the tale on this one... wink tongue
- You have YET to tell us how far into the install you get.
   We don't even know which stage you are failing at...
   Textmode, WinPE, Gui.
   Or how far into that portion of setup the error occurs.
   Or if the window has a title.

are you certain that that "there is nothing to extract" is the EXACT wording of the message and no other clues are offered.

I wrote a tool recently to dump the info directly out of the packs and into the php format we need to update the page.
(writeing a thousand lines of php by hand from info in the 166 folders / inf files is a little tedious. that is how Wim used to do it - that guy can type up a storm wink)

it appears the tool i wrote has skipped a few infs / folders in mass storage...

Here is an easier version of the instructions...

Use a repair disk that  Does Not  have DriverPacks added and you will not have this issue.

DriverPacks does not currently support attended installations (like a repair)
- If you can follow instructions like the ones posted above, it is possable.
- (it is still not supported... but it will work)

Hint:
There is only one way that you can do a repair with an unmodified DriverPacks slipstreamed disc...
   IF   the only pack you selected for your slipstream was the Mass Storage Textmode checkbox. wink

x64 support is still under consideration but it is definitely not a priority.

Sorry for this rant outbreaker.

Everybody wants to bitch that the packs don't get updated but NO ONE volunteers to update them.
You guys need to thank God that mr_smartepants and JakeLD update them at all.
Seldom are people nice or appreciative and everyone wants to tell us how they think it should be done.
It is REALLY ANNOYING when we get a post 5 minutes after a major driver (like nvidia) is updated.
We already know... It is what we do.  furthermore this type of a post implies, 
"Why the heck have you slackers not gotten this in a pack yet! You had better get to work on it now!" .
The most annoying part is nobody wants to step up and help do the work.
(I am always tempted to ask "Well why haven't YOU added it yet!")
Just once i would like to see a post like:
I added this driver to DriverPack name in my local copy and it works, this is what I did...
(actually, I have seen that once or twice wink)
If we had a few posts like that or a few more people willing to do some work it would not take months to do.
you would think that with a million downloads a month that we could find more than two people who are willing to help adding drivers... sad If we had as many people adding drivers as we had asking why they are not updated we could release all the packs weekly.

If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.

To conclude: (regarding how long it takes to release).
- If you have not volunteered to be on the team then sit down and shut up.

You are using Nightly packs... this is normal and expected.

There will be some stray files when using any nightlies.
Test packs are not for production machines...
Since they are for testing only it does not matter.
In Fact it should be a reminder to you to double check everything worked...

this is NOT a bug... IT IS BY DESIGN.
It tells us when non testing team members have been using the nightlies for purposes other than testing.
(Donors like dnoiz are automatically on the testing team)
In other words your report has told me you are using files you have not been authorized to access.
and you don't have access to the thread that discusses the details about the test pack(s).
(when you are sneaking cookies out of the jar don't complain about the flavor wink)
IE you can't use the word BUG related to test files if your not on the testing team,
Since you don't have access to the details associated with the nightly packs. wink big_smile

At the same time I do greatly appreciate you taking the time to report your results!
although you did not mention whether or not it worked sad
