Hello,

I have a major problem. I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop. It originally had Vista on it. It sucked so I installed XP. Now, I cannot get the right IDT/Sigmatel HD audio codec to make it work. I've been on several sites (dell.com, IDT.com, Google searches). Cannot find one to work.
I know a little around a pc but, I am not no expert. Can you guys help me out here?

Did you buy the PC with Vista preinstalled? Or did it come from the factory with a different OS?
If it's new, and came with Vista preinstalled, and it still doesn't work, then return it for a refund or warranty repair.

The emachines website is where you will find your drivers and answers.

Alright like that "tutorial" said, I aint got a Vista DVD or ISO. So what would I do next?

Actually I have went to THE website for my machine and I downloaded the drivers and my Windows Vista Volume Control is still not detecting my drivers. Thats the whole problem I got here.

All I am here for is to get an answer to fix my problem. I have gone through over a dozen forums now, and nobody, NOBODY, has helped me. I believe you guys can fix the answer to my problem.

Here are my "specs":

Model: W3609

No I don't know how to use DriverPacks with my install, I don't see why you would have too :s

was this a new install? did you use DriverPacks with your new install? what OS are you installing? SP level?

Sigmatel High Defenition Audio CODEC- Code 10 Problem

Alright well I got a Emachine's W3609 computer and I have a little red "X" on my volume control.

So I decided, Why not take a look in the device manager. I see my Sigmatel Driver with an exclamation next to it.

I tried to update it, Didnt Work.
I tried to check for solutions, Nothing popped up.

If you guys need anything else to help me fix the problem then please ask.

Please talk in English as I do not understand everything you guys say, looking at different topics.

Please help me! It's been well over a month since it quit working.
