Jap, especially with these pre-modded XP CDs!
You never know what kind of junk someone included and deemed cool, fun, useful or else.
Plus, they might have sneaked up a trojan/keylogger on your ass, opened some nice ports, fiddled with the DNS entries or messed up the hosts file.

Besides, ususally, you cannot use such sources as a starting point for your own customization because they aren't pure and virgin anymore (esp nLite dislikes that!).
DP integration should normally work but you don't know what it may break (previously included non-DP drivers).

SP3 v3311 isn't current anyway. v3311 never included the HDAudio fix.

Yeah, seeing as the final SP3 is out for some time now, there's really no reason whatsoever to use any of the beta/RC version anymore.

Plus, indeed, MS only managed to include KB888111 just before going final (thankfully!)

Isn't SP3 up to v.5321 or something now?

Build ver. 5512, AFAIK (it doesn't show under System Proerties anymore since they went final...)

Downgrade rights are an end-user right and
are documented in the product License
Terms or End-User License Agreement (EULA)

You don't need to obtain your copy through an unreliable source it is potentialy dangerous and often wastes a LOT of time.

since your EULA includes the right to downgrade you should be able to get a copy from a reliable source you can even use a copy that has been installed and activated previously.

You should always start with a fresh source when doing your integrations.

SP3 v3311 isn't current anyway. v3311 never included the HDAudio fix.

Isn't SP3 up to v.5321 or something now?

the only thing I did was download the Windows.XP.PRO.CORP+SP3.3311.Integrated iso and slipstreamed just the sata control drivers so the setup would recognize my hard drive on the toshiba laptop. Did that by using nlite to slipstream and create the iso

that error is indicateing a failure / absense of kb888111

as i said SP3 includes kb888111 - correct, it won't install on sp3

you have an issue with your source files

Hint: Google PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_284B

would you mind detailing your steps to install XP?
IE how you modified / slipstreamed your UWXPCD...

ryanvm? nlite? driverpacks? other...?

I installed xp from a windows xp sp3 slip stream disc.... when i installed the kb888111wxpsp2.exe it says "setup has detected that the service pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying"

ok your source XP is older (either SP1 or SP2) You would not have had this problem with XP SP3

that HWID is for Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio

that is a windows "driver" that is not included in older versions of XP (previous to SP3)
DriverPacks base will slipstream that HotFix into your XP installation, However, you used a SAD disk and you will not get that hotfix with that method (it is technicaly not a driver its an OS HotFix).

to address your problem you need to do your MS updates. (install SP3 or KB 888111)

Ok... I've applied all the driverpacks via dpinstal and the 'pci device' still says it needs drivers.

you can start with one of two options...

please read the tutorial in my signature it describes how to add DriverPacks to your installation.
see if that takes care of all the unknown devices

You can use a DriverPacks to create a SAD disk to update your drivers

I'm having a problem with xp after the instal. I'm missing a driver that installed the last time I installed xp.. not sure why... also a device that was showing up before isn't now, probably has something to do with the device I'm missing the driver for, has more devices on that device.... any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also windows freezes up and I have to end task on explorer and re-run explorer to get my functionality working the way it should.
