Hi jtdoom,

just a short reply to your last post:

jtdoom wrote:

Most important.. We need to know what happens when NON-raid drives on Silicon Image chips are used.
We also want to know if your RAID array was a problem, and if this version fixed it.

As far as my system is concerned, I am using two seperate 74GB Seagate drives in an NON-RAID configuration and everything is now working perfectly with the 70319nightly. Both hard disks are regognised as seperate drives.

Quite to my surprise the SiI driver works independent of the SiI BIOS Version: I am currently using the onboard SiI3112 controller with the very latest BIOS version 4.2.83, but I have also tried the rather outdated Version 4.2.47 which is still shipped with the latest ASUS BIOS for for my A7N8X Deluxe mainboard. Maybe someone else who is running a RAID configuration on this particular controller could confirm this.

Hi
and that is what this test version is about.
in this 70319nightly version the INI file was edited, The alfanumerical order in the Silicon Image section of the INI looks a mess now, but ALL silicon image raid mode drivers precede non raid mode drivers, so that textmode loads them before NON-raid mode.

to all people using this version,
Most important.. We need to know what happens when NON-raid drives on Silicon Image chips are used.
We also want to know if your RAID array was a problem, and if this version fixed it.

If this version gets setup to NOT see single hard drives on all Silicon Image, then we have to really bang our heads together. Silicon has been a problem for so long, and so often, see..
Anyway, the purpose of the INI is that one can now fairly easily change things.

Hi jtdoom and many thanks for your quick response. Changing the boot order of the SiI3112 drivers did the trick. The installation runs flawlessly on my system now.

I have also been able to confirm this by manually changing the order of the SiI3112 IDE and SiI3112 RAID Drivers in the mass storage INI of DP MS 7.01.1. Once the RAID driver is loaded before the IDE Driver, everythings runs perfectly.

This seems to be exactly the same problem as in this post:
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1354

Kind regards, tim_st

I am using DriverPacks Base 7.01.6 with all the latest DriverPacks, including DriverPacks MassStorage 7.01.1. I have tried to perform a Windows Setup on my ASUS A7N8X Deulxe which has two 74 GB Seagate SATA Drives attached to the onboard Silicon Image SiI3112 controller. Unfortunately I will always get a BSOD 0x0000007B on reboot.

I have obviously had a thorough look at the following topic:
[SOLVED] SiI 3112r controller doesnt work: 0x7B BSOD
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=87

I have paid particular attention to the issue concerning various BIOS Versions for this controller: I have used the original ASUS BIOS 1009 which contains the SiI3112 BIOS Version 4.2.47 and I have also tried injecting the SiI3112 BIOS versions 4.2.50, 4.2.79 and even the very latest Version 4.2.83 - all to no avail. I have also tried replacing the SiI3112 Driver 1.0.56.1 from Driver Pack MassStorage 7.01.1 with the previous version 1.0.51 and repackaging the DriverPack, but that didnt't help either. No matter what I do - whenever Windows Setup has finished file copying I will inevetably get a BSOD 0x0000007B on reboot and the advice to run chkdsk /f... :-(

I should stress that I have also tried using the original Windows XP SP2 CD and inserting the SiI driver with the F6 method: Setup proceeds without any problems at all, no matter if I use SiI Driver Version 1.0.51 or 1.0.56.1. But since I am trying to run Windows Setup unattended, this is no solution to my problem. I should think there must still be an incompatibility with other drivers in "DriverPack MassStorage 7.01.1" but I have got absolutely no idea where to start from.

Incidently: Apparently I am not the only one experiencing this problem. Please have a look at this post under "Feedback and Support":

http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1361

Any help into solving this mystery would be much appreciated.
