PS:> I asked the guys over at Podnutz to test this too.  It's a global community which provides varied testing.
I also posted my screenshots there as they host them via upload.

Jeff,

. . .  just to clarify, not having this particular driver pack is not that big of a problem for me.  Yes, I am making a disc of all drivers and it would be nice to have this pack too . . .  but I'm not in a bind or anything.

---

My friend in Connecticut also did the download twice, on his openSUSE 11 and MAC systems.

Amazingly it did the same thing !

When the download starts it shows the correct file size ( ~ 77MB) but the the download stops (supposedly successfully - ie no errors) with a file size of ~ 46MB.

His broadband ISP is Cox Cable and mine is Verizon DSL.

I live in a suburb of Wilkes Barre PA.  So I'm not sure if you, I and he are getting this file from the same server or not.

Interesting stuff . . .  let me know if you have any ideas.  I'm willing to tinker and experiment.

-:>Kevin

PS:> How do I post screen shots in this forum ?

Well on my Linux boxes - there isn't any live scanning.

I have Verizon DSL.

-:>Kevin

I'm from Northeastern PA . . .  I know lots of folks near Southeastern PA who have downloaded this successfully.

I did email a friend from Connecticut asking him to try it.

I'll keep you posted.

-:>Kevin

PS:> It is interesting to note that during the download - it shows the file size as 77MB . . . but the dl completes successfully at 46MB.

Hi Jeff,

Thought I had this working . . . . there is only one single file that still won't extract.

Would you mind trying it on your computer ?

It's Vista Audio_x86_907.7z  at http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3341

The reported file size is 77.8MB  - each time I download it (on various machines and OS'es, etc) the file size is approximately 41.6MB.

Ok - I think I'm all set.

Here is what I found - perhaps this will help others.

-------------

I had the same problem downloading using another computer (WinXP) and another Internet connection.

First I downloaded ONE of the Driver Pack Files with which I had had problems.

I extracted fine (note the bad version was much smaller.)

So I launch multiple concurrent downloads - and redownloaded all the driver packs.

Then I had the same problem ! ! !

Ok enough of my soap opera . . . . what I found was if I download each driver pack alone - (ie Wait until that one file download has completed before starting the next driver pack download - THEN it will work.  The driver packs will extract.)

It's the first time I've ever had a problem like this, but wanted to share in case it helps others.

-:>Kevin

PS:>  The brower is FireFox 3.5.2

PPS:> The guys over on the PodNutz forums really love your work.
http://www.podnutz.com/forums/viewtopic … 7656#p7656

Jeff,

That box has 3Gig of RAM.

The files were being extracted one at a time.

I'll have to check on the swap file size.

-:>Kevin

Thanks for the reply.  I agree it must be something on my end . . .  statistically so many successful users - can't be wrong.

I will retry from a different computer (and different Internet connection) paying close attention to the MD5 Hash . . . I must admit I rarely check MD5 b/c I download so much stuff w/o any problem.  But I will retry one of the FAILED packs and check the MD5.

Here are the details:

It happened on both the XP and Vista driver packs.

The XP Drivers were downloaded from here: http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/latest

The Vista drivers were downloaded from the Forums:  http://forum.driverpacks.net/index.php

They were unZipped using 7Zip (7-Zip 4.65) - GUI

Here are the XP Drivers (and which extracted and which did not):

7Zip some files won't extract
Diag Msg # 0 "Can not open file xxx as archive."

I downloaded all the XP and Vista driver packs - twice, once to a WinXP box and again to an Ubtunu box.

Both times I used 7Zip to extract the files.  Both times the same thing happened.

About 1/3 of the files would not extract and gave the error message above.

Has anyone else seem this ?  Is there a work around ?

Thanks,
