We have a new machine the HP Ultrabook SpectreXT in our environment.  We have been using the UBCD4WIN for a number of years to recover data, fix errors, etc. very successfully.  I am unable to boot the new machine.  I get just past the “starting Windows XP” and the machine powers off.  I updated the drivers to the latest from driverpack.net, same problem.  I also tried to build a completely new CD with just the base, included drivers and had the same problem.  I did that in hopes of getting an error I could trace.

I have a Windows 7 live CD (built with winbuilder PE) that works to boot the machine.  I can’t move to Win 7 due to some specialized tools we use.  They are XP only.  My suspicion is that it is a chipset issue, but I can’t tell for sure.  Any suggestions for any additional troubleshooting or ideas on how to ID the problem?
Thanks,
Keith
