Here is a bit of an update along with some questions. I have been testing at least 15 integration's to try and see some patterns and I also ran MD5 comparisons to check drivers duplicates... am I correct that if two inf's have the same MD5 they actually are the same? As a further example I looked at the Chipset WIN7/Intel/1 files and the ALL/Intel/1 files... all 116 files in the WIN7 folder are exact MD5 matches for the ALL folder... if thats the case why are they both needed?

I checked the AMD folder and saw the same drivers in the _svr folders as the non _svr folders so that clearly showed me duplicates.

When all is said and done your "story" in post 2 was worth sticking with :-)

I definitely understand what your describing but isn't that why you changed the packs so you could remove the OS drivers that don't apply? In each of the packs I only left the WIN7 and ALL and that's where the 295 comes from... do you think there are still duplicates in that case?

Do all the drivers get added to the inf folder? Do they all use OEM at the start of the name?

EDIT: In reviewing both the packs more in depth I do see duplicates so now I have further questions.
In working with only WIN7 images am I correct that I need both the ALL and the WIN7 folders
In the Chipset pack are the intel drivers in the WIN7 1 folder the same as those in the ALL  1 folder

Hi Erik,

It's been a long time since I've posted to the forum but I'm still following your work and now I have some questions since I am confused about some integration issues.

I am experimenting with two tools Win 7 Toolkit and GDism ELDI and I am using them to integrate the CPU and MassStorage packs.

When I use GDism it selects the 295 drivers and the log says it successfully installed all 295 but when I look for them I don't see 295 but more like 230

When I use Win7 Toolkit it selects the 295 drivers but it says it installed 231 so I am confused as to whether it should be 295 or 231 and of course why.

WOW really cool tool.. I just loaded it up and ran it on a Latitude E5410 running WIN7 x64 and it did update a few drivers but didn't update the

should I upload the pack online somewhere?

I did a very basic update to this pack and added a single Dell monitor... should I upload the pack online somewhere?

Wanted to say hello to all... needless to say I haven't been around for quite sometime due to "life" issues but trust me I always check in and see the amazing work still being done here... WOW you guys have done sooo much :-)

Today was my first day "playing" with some packs again and I am hoping to start participating as soon as I catch-up a little... I'll probably need some help so be patient while I ask some seemingly basic stuff again :-)

You are amazing... THANKS

Thats too strange... I have no idea how I screwed that up but I'm glad you caught it before I did another burn today and would have been wondering what the heck went wrong lol... here are the Dell drivers:

Strange, 100815 already has an \A5\ and it's one day newer than the one you added.  Did I forget to upload my version? hmm
Umm, I just checked your version and there is no folder \A5\. (Did you forget something too?)
I'm updating my local copy now, just tell me where you got the Dell drivers and I'll update the first post with my copy.
So far I have:

I have been working on this for months and I think I have tried everything that google located but I still can't seem to get it right. Since this is my favorite tech resource I thought I would ask here. If this is the wrong forum I apologize...

MANY tools will delete the current users IE files including the index.dat but what I am looking to do is delete all users IE and temp files but KEEP the index.dat files or at least make a copy of them before the cleanups. On the workbench when we do quick cleanups on systems we login with a special IT account and run ccleaner, fcleaner and a bunch of  of other tools and scripts before we scan and update the systems and finally return them to the user... but we must maintain the index.dat file in case the company needs to be any simple forensic reviews of the systems.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I have various scripts that I have located and can share them if needed.... thanks

As discussed here: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 039#p40039 I took Jeff's suggestions on how to implement a network scan of all the computers on my networks. I modified the HWID tool with: If NOT Exist \\ServerName\ShareName\%COMPUTERNAME%-HWIDS.txt   copy %Out%  \\ServerName\ShareName\%COMPUTERNAME%-HWIDS.txt and setup a shared folder and a simple logon batch for the users. I started this on Friday and will check the results next week and report back. THANKS Jeff.

a computer named "bob" would result in \\ServerName\ShareName\bob-HWIDS.txt

Hint: type SET at a command prompt tongue - Notice that there are LOTs of helpful environment variables big_smile

even better might be

If NOT Exist \\ServerName\ShareName\%COMPUTERNAME%-HWIDS.txt   copy %Out%  \\ServerName\ShareName\%COMPUTERNAME%-HWIDS.txt

I am going to play with this next week and give it a week for everyone to login and update the file... then if you want a copy of all the files to see if I can help with particular tests you can refer to a machine name/names and I can get it done for you... thanks

if the client were willing you could add the HWIDs tool to the login script
You'ed obviously have to extract the HWIDs tool (It's a self extracting archive) and redirect the output to a server share instead of notepad wink.

just a thought... It might be nice to have an 'actual' inventory on hand for them anyway wink.

Thats an AWESOME idea... I never thought of that!!!! I will be there all next week and will do that... just extracted the file and wondering how I can name each system file differently so I can dump them all in the same folder share... any way to pickup the computer name in the output???

I finally finished the move from h*ll and now trying to catchup so I will be running some tests for the next few days. I will try some things on the a860 for Bluetooth and report back

I have been running some local tests and after the experience I just had today I have decided to pretty much give up on this at least for now. I have very few systems that have Bluetooth and actually no users that actually need it for their work. I have decided to turn off Bluetooth in BIOS before my installs and if they ever need it on in the future I will install the drivers at that time.

My latest testing with a Vostro 3700 went something like this: try and install Bluetooth and the damn mouse and keyboard drivers don't install... CAN'T BE so try it again, and again and again with different combinations and find out I can reproduce the failure everytime if I try the Bluetooth so guess what... NO Bluetooth hmm

I have asked one of my clients to check their inventory of 300 systems to see if they have any nvidia chipsets... I will let you know.
Question: Is it enough to get a system to the GUI stage or does it need to finish a complete installation to determine if the pack works?

Bad news... their asset module isn't accurate enough to determine the chipsets and from the report I have looked at I can't determine anything other than CPU and Video chipset

I have asked one of my clients to check their inventory of 300 systems to see if they have any nvidia chipsets... I will let you know.
Question: Is it enough to get a system to the GUI stage or does it need to finish a complete installation to determine if the pack works?

I've had extremely good success with deploying XP using WIM images along with OfflineSysprep so if you did decide to go down that road and ran into any snags I can probably assist you.  That combined with DriverPacks allows me reload oem-specific or VLK XP machines in 10-15 minutes.  Anyways, if you do give is a whirl and get stuck let me know and I'm sure I could help you.

OH MAN that sounds like a dream... with my custom DVD's a full install on a relatively new laptop takes about 45 minutes... that includes Drivers, Office, Antivirus, a few other programs, lots of tweaks etc so if I could shave that down to even 20 minutes it would be amazing. I would welcome any advise or guidance... thanks and yes I will look into it further as well.

Just a quick update on this:
I have been working on this with very limited success using WINsetupFromUSB so I have been posting on the forum for help

Turns out the Dell laptops have some issues that the developer is checking into ...he has a Latitude E6400 that also has problems installing. I will keep updating as things develop

That's exactly what I was thinking.  It's not a direct replacement for either S\ or S2\ so I was going to give it it's own folder S3\.

I am trying it now so if it works I will post the update... either way I will let you everyone know the result

EDIT: Worked perfect on the V3700 so I will upload and post a link

I did notice the digital signature is different in the pack from the one in the link you provided... are you having a problem? If so does it install manually from that folder?
