So ... I promised to keep you posted about the evolution on this issue.
I finally got it working, but I had to step back from the DELL OEM XP CD & got my source-files from an HP OEM XP-version.

First I tried again to eliminate a possible conflicting driver, by skipping the driverpacks (Chipset, CPU, graphics, Sound & mass storage) to leave only the LAN & W-LAN drivers actually ;-)
> but that didn't do the thing eighter. My system still hung on the reboot before the installation of the apps. (RunOnceEX.cmd)

I also removed the files & the listing in TXTSETUP.SIF as discribed here:
http://www.msfn.org/board/Stripping-unn … 58243.html

& I found something similar regarding DELL OEM problems here:

> but still I had the same problem...

I gave up on the DELL cd & I used a OEM CD from HP & that works like a charm !!!

I admit that I didn't really found the problem on the DELL CD but I'm happy that I have a working solution !!! & hey ... forget the DELL thing OK !

thanks for helping anyway & c u later somewhere on MSFN !

Hi again,

I was allready looking into that direction... The file structure on the CD is indeed different from a retail version.
I allready deleted the obvious ones in the $OEM$ folder, a very suspicious one for example; was an INF folder in the $$-map... with driverfiles inside. So, I made the structure of the $OEM$ equal to the structure of the retail version; & I get no other errors during install, but the final result is the same: @ the reboot before the application installation starts; the system hangs.
I forgot to mention in my first post that it DOES boot & starts the apps. install. when I press the F8-key to boot in safe mode. So it could still be a conflicting driver. I allready eliminated the chipset & CPU drivers (& I'm not using the mass-storage drivers).. So I better try to eliminate the graphics & sound drivers too; ...  but maybe there is still something in their I386 folder that I could not locate yet.
I will eliminate the graphics & sound drivers today ... & let you know about the result ...
If it doesn't do the thing; I can try an OEM version of MEDION instead of DELL tomorrow & keep you posted about that too ;-)

big thanks for the replies allready & please keep following because my job is depending on this; HAHA!!

Hi anyone;

I used to make my first unattended DVD +/- 2 years ago which has always worked fine!

Now I'm trying to make a new version with updated apps, hotfixes & ... new driverpacks (v.8.05)

Everything works like a charm with a volume license (retail) version of XP & NOT with an OEM version (DELL).

During the second reboot (before execution of runoneEX.cmd) my systems hangs (on the DOS XP-logo) ... the sliding blue bar under the logo stops moving > (system hangs)

I slipstream the driverpacks as the last action, in both cases ... so no hotfixes or any modification after integration of the driverpacks. (cfr. txtsetup.sif) ... I also compared the txtsetup.sif file in both cases, & they seem the same, same filesize...)

when I use the old driverpacks (from my first DVD) into the OEM version, there is no problem & like I said slipstreaming the new driverpacks in a retail version of XP also works fine.

Any driverpack-experience regarding OEM vs retail installs ? ...

If you need more info, files or logs (which ones?) please ask & I will provide them!!
