I already have sound working, so I don't want try anything else and f**k it up, sorry. Others who still don't have sound should definetely try the test drivepack.

At the very beginning they were both shown as PCI Devices. Then I think I installed Microsoft UAA or Vista drivers and they turned into High Definition Buses. However without any Conexant in their names. They also had that little yellow "!", indicating that windows can't start the hardware. No matter what drivers I tried, it was all the same.

Then I found this forum and as I'd said in my first post, the drivers that someone had linked to finally worked. I ran the downloaded 'conexant_audio_os2006203a.exe' file, it extracted itself and ran the setup file, however it didn't find any hardware to install the drivers for, so I cancelled it. Then I ran the update driver wizard from DM and forced it to use the INF file that the setup had extracted. That's all. And it worked.

Here's what my DM looks like:

Install UAA, then Vista drivers, and then update with the ones that worked for me. This could sound stupid, but that's pretty much what I had done to get it working.

You could also try uninstalling the device from the device manager from time to time. I have no idea.

Is this good?

Yeah I have already tried that with that one and all the HP drivers. When I select the INF file (BD1HDAa.inf in this case) I get " The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".

Impossible. You're installing sound, right? Not the modem. It's got to work.

That ain't enough, you have to force even more. Try this:

- Unzip the drivers (remember the location)
- In Device Manager find the card, right click > update driver
- Choose "Not at this time" > Next > Install from a list ..... > Next
- Choose DON'T SEARCH. I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVER TO INSTALL > Next

Then it depends on how the wizard will behave. It may find the compatible driver at once, or it may not. Here's what you have to do in the worst case:

- Choose Sound, Video and game Controllers > Next
- Click HAVE DISK and locate an INF file in the folder where you unzipped the driver
- Choose the only option from list and click Next > Finish
- Reboot
- Enjoy the silence big_smile, just kidding - enjoy sound!

It's a miracle you guys, it's actually working...

Was the same here, got two laptops P105-S6147 and P105-S6177. Erased hard drive without even booting vista for the first time, cuz I pretty much knew what it was all about. Installed XP Pro and it was there when the nightmare began. No drivers for XP on the toshiba download site whatsoever, even though most of them exist. Downloaded "detailed specs" for the laptops so I can have an idea of what I'm looking for. May I point out that it said absolutely nothing about the sound card in the "detailed specs" of theirs. Long story short, found 'em all, except the audio for both of the laptops and the wi-fi for the 47 model.

It's here that I found the solution you guys, thanks so much.

- Regarding the audio driver, no HP or Microsoft UAUAUA worked. No Vista drivers worked, no other P105-S61xx drivers worked. F*** conexant for this of course, making it so f***ing complicated on purpose. However the driver for P100-ST9742 that farmdog_2007 pointed out does work. There IS sound and all the needed settings for sound in the control panel work. Couldn't fix the audio modem, but who needs that crap anyway? So thanks so much, this spared me loads of time. And of course the driver works on both the laptops.

- As for the wi-fi for the 47 model. Somehow my sreach for the exact driver version ended up on AR5004X. Of course it didn't work, cuz things would be too good if it did. No drivers on the manufacturer's website, naturally. I mean why would they post drivers on their website? It could make life easier for some customers, but why should they care. Same goes to conexant and toshiba, I had no idea those f***ers were capable of producing sound cards. I thought it would be realtek or something. Anyways, back to wi-fi. Thank goodness I ran into jakar2007's post here. It was starting to p*ss me of big time when the AR5006EG did finally work. Thanks a loads.

So I got pretty much everything working, except for the audio modems, but f**k em, who needs 'em?
