Well ... I'm finally getting somewhere. I have a Toshiba P105-S6147 running in a dual boot configuration with Vista and XP Home. I still dont have sound with XP and the correct display driver. Have not played with modem drivers. I did get the Intel Lan and Atheros WiFi working.
First big ticket was Intel. I basically went through the hardware install wizard in XP and told it to install a Intel Pro/100 VE adapter. Of course what XP put on did not work. Then rebooted to Vista, copied c:\windows\system32\drivers\e100b325.sys to the same directory structure in XP. Rebooted XP ... it worked! This was good because now that I am connected... I got the Atheros driver to work.
I dug up Atheros (AR5004G) drivers on the net... but nothing that worked. I installed the 5004 driver anyway... of course did not work. Went to update the driver from the hardware profile, when going through the wizard I let the wizard search for the best driver... guessing online not that I have the LAN driver working. Not sure if that's where found it... but after a couple of minutes XP found AR5006EG driver! I had the lan working at the time, vista in another partition, and the XP installation disk in the drive.
Getting comfortable.. see if I can find display drivers.
