PS BASE was written over 7 years ago... how did you manage to use the packs for years without stumbling into BASE?
Actually, I was stupid and did not look for a tool to automate it. I edited the inf and ini files and such on my own, and then tested the installs. I have been working with assembly language for so long the habit was hard to break. I also used to program setups with Installshield and I used that knowledge to directly change the setups. I also did not customize setups for a few years as I was focussed on other projects. However, I guess I was just stuck in a rut and to dumb to look for something to make it easier. I do kinda feel dumb after finding DP_Base. I learned my lesson and now I look for tools to automate as much as possible. We all make mistakes right? I have been using it now for about 5 years now, but I have just lately started to look for 3rd party packs and using them as well. Now with windows 7 I wonder if it will get easier or harder to customize setups. I hope easier. I am glad that Microsoft has started giving us slipstreaming capabilities. I just wish they would have done it with Internet Explorer. I am trying to get Internet Explorer to slipstream, but with no luck other than just running it as an external setup after instal has finished. I would like to have it directly integrated, but I have not been able to find a way. Microsoft has it to intertwined into Windows to do it any other way. I cannot even change the setup to make it work. If anyone has any pointers I would be grateful.
I forgot to add that no where in the program does it say that the list of driverpacks inside DP-Base is a static list and not a dynamic list that only lists what is in the driverpack directory. I have programmed both types of lists and DP-Base does not specify.
Never take anything for granted when it comes to programs. That is what causes problems and bugs.
I thank you for your response, but I think that you do not understand. Just because I was not sure which directory the driverpacks are to be placed in does not mean that I do not know what they are for. I have been a computer tech since the '70s and my first program was on the Candi compiler midrange computer with IBM cards. In fact I helped develop the AI programs dealing with map optimization that allows all of your GPS gadgets to work. I was in a team that worked on it back in college. Students never get credit as you know. I have been working with driverpacks for years and I was very glad when DP-Base was developed. Have been doing it the hard way for years and was not even aware of DP-Base until about 3 years ago. My lack of familiarity is with DP-Base and not with drivers and driverpacks. Believe me it is a pain editing the setup program manually to add or change drivers for a setup. DP-Base has saved me a lot of time.
The reason why I was unsure is that with the 3rd party driver packs the download directory says it is a 3rd party driver pack, but not with the ones that I listed. They are described the same way as the main driverpacks in their download pages. So if someone is not sure how DP-Base will work with the particular driverpack and the description of that driverpack does not say if it is a main or a 3rd party, then how is anyone to know how DP-Base will work with it if there are no lists or instructions as to what driverpacks go where, excepts the statement that main driverpacks go in the driverpack directory and the 3rd party goes in their directory.
Knowing that computers do exactly what you tell them to do and being a programmer, you learn not to take anything for granted and to make sure that you get it right, or you can cause many problems. RIGHT?
Again I thank you and I would ask that someone make a list available or that the driverpack download pages specify which directory.

I have been using dp-base for awhile as well as the driverpacks. I just downloaded the latest and noticed that there were some additional driverpacks that were not listed as 3rd party. Like DP_LAN-RIS_wnt5_x86-32_1011.7z and DP_Runtimes_wnt5_x86-32_1011.7z as well as graphics - languages and physx, but when I run dp-base they are not listed in the update page or the list to choose which ones to slipstream.
Should these driverpacks be put in the driverpacks diretory or in the 3rd party directory. I have run several queries on the internet to try and find out where they should go, but I have found no lists whatsoever as to their correct location. I have read that dp-base will not use 3rd party driverpacks that are in the driverpacks directory. So where should they be placed so that they will be used?
I hope that I am not the only one with this question in mind.
