You might want to enquire with them if eMachines division are dragging their sorry butts (much like a dog with worms! 
) just because the desktop was only ~$300. Of course, the longer you have to deal with their support services, the greater the cost to them. Remind them, they may hasten an answer to their website to prevent further losses.
Perhaps there is a 'F6' driver disk that you need for the SATA controller. What is the HWid of your SATA controller?
A USB floppy drive may be necessary - or a thumb drive. I'm not sure which way this will work with XP, unless you have an old floppy drive (that reads/writes PROPERLY) & a port to plug it in.

Another prank involves a HID keyboard & micro-controller dongle, installed into the end of a busted usb cable. It looks to the average person as a usb cable ripped in half.
Plug it in to someones machine (good luck finding it in a bundle of wire!) & it will wait for the machine to be idle for 3 minutes, & then start a macro to say, move the mouse around, open up programs. When the user interacts, the timer resets.

Willingness to pay is one thing. Ability is another. Would a charge for download be tantamount to charging for another's SW? I recall the experience of Daniel_K being sued by Creative (until literally thousands of users on Creative's forums complained - & they couldn't keep up with the posts they 'needed' to delete), just because he had repackaged their faulty, feature-disabled software-drivers, enabled full 7 support (even for the SB Live! series) & was accepting donations.

I have a RT2870 package ready. (12/27/2010, 3.01.08.0000). That was, until i discovered a little bug in v4.00 of WinRAR! Such a surprise to see extra binary characters included at the beginning of the inf file! SacreBleu! Pardon my french.:rolleyes: A little bird has told me this is due to a little-endian UTF-16 problem affecting only the file viewer.
I think i'll be using MD5 signatures for now, until winrar4 is more mature, just to be certain. Maybe it's time for me to switch to 7zip (i've been waiting for 7z to emerge from beta, though. Ahh, v9.20 IS out of beta!:cool:).

Does windoes 7 support Software AP modes? Can it 'walk & chew bubble-gum @ the same time' with ICS? Does any of this really matter with this updated driver & newer (or hacked) Wii firmware? Funny thing, since i have an atheros WiFi card installed in my notebook, v9.2.0.104 driver come with WS, a WirlessIntermediateDriver v1.0.0.92. It installed on the Nintendo WiFi USB, too. Does this translate to better support for ICS?

Tested with Nintendo WiFi USB adapter on Windows 7 x86 & x64 (works for me, hopefully you too!). It should work with any RT2500USB device.

I had nothing but trouble (& bluescreens ) trying to get 7.x64 onto a DFI nForce 4 Ultra-D with an AMD-X2(now SLI & SATA2 RAID - thanks to adding a solder bridge on chipset & modding bios for latest RAID utility ). 7 didn't even want to install @ first (thanx to nv's lack of logo'd SATA RAID drivers, etc).
It turned out that i needed a special boot cd to even get that far. Even after solving the SATA RAID logo issue (many, many thanks to Fernando 1!), the bluescreen issue reared it's ugly head. It turned out that the issue was somehow related to the SMB driver.
My brother doesn't even realize how indebted to F1 he is, yet i'm very thankful, as i was able to save face after gifting (for his birthday) what looked, at first, like defective hw.
I SLAVED a whole day over a hot (under-the-collar) employer (actually he was rather jovial) , to be able to afford the X2 & the 20x10x7 cm cooler mister 6-heatpipe cooler! I don't want to turn this post into a bash-nv'fest (that would be TOO easy - g86 BUMPGATE).

BEWARE, incorrectly applied BIOS modifications can render your hardware INOPERATIVE! You may think you know what you are doing, yet still end up with 'dead' hardware. It NEVER hurts to ask questions (sometimes it's the answer that hurts!:rolleyes:) Is your SiI RAID card BIOS socketed? (square chip - PLCC32, or DIP32 - DualInlinePackage?) If so, who is the manufacturer of the BIOS chip & what are the numbers on it? It might make parr-for-the-course to flash a spare (only if compatible, though)

I have a pair of nForce 2 boards & a nforce 4 Intel Ed. that i'm willing to 'guinea-pig', yet it will have to wait until next friday(edit: postponed til May). I've been looking forward to testing the 'SoundStorm' capabilities on both (even though one doesn't officially support:rolleyes:).

OK, finally! Using similar SMSC IrCC hardware, it turns out that the 6.2.6000.2 driver DOES work like a charm with XP.
Apparently i was experiencing either an incompatability with the SigmaTel IRDA module at a physical layer level, or a defective SigmaTel IRDA module. If only i had another IRDA v1.3 dongle to test these hypotheses. Maybe it doesn't matter, as the IRDA association has moved past IRDA v1.3 to IRDA v1.4, & now IRDA v1.5. I do not dare hazard a guess as to the interoperability of these standards!
I don't know whether this helps at all, but for most nv HW, i've been using Fernando's packs (noncommercially - of course).

Ensure the wireless switch (if applicable) is set to the on position. Ensure that you know your WiFi password, you will have to re-enter it.
Use a program like 7-zip or winrar (for example) to right-click on the file, & extract the contents to a folder (IN6WLN44WW1 for example). Navigate to the Broadcom\5.100.82.15\Driver folder. Explore the folder that matches the version of windows you are using. Right-Click on the Address bar, and...
For Win7:
select 'copy address as text'.
Left-Click Start. Type devmgmt.msc & press enter. update the driver for your wlan with 'Browse my computer for driver software'. Right-click & paste the previously copied address in the 'Search for driver in this location' list box.
If this doesn't automatically find it you could try to 'let me pick from a list of device drivers' & selecting the 'Have Disk' button.
For XP:
select 'copy'
