Ok, the problem with using the Vista Tool is that it seemingly makes no sense (bad GUI) and really is hard to follow to do anything else.. for those of us with tons of network storage, it's a real PITA that it seemingly needs to be on C: .. and integrating update packs (like TV pack, etc.) is a bitch... plus, while the short readme mentions an "extras" folder, it gives no real instructions on how/if it ever works.

Right now, like a lot above, I'm pretty trapped into using VLite and just not doing driverpacks for the moment, or doing them post-install.  Which sucks.   I realize it's still early in this project, h*ll, XP was out five years and DP_Base for XP is still improving.  And the work done so far is impressive.  It's just not a ready-for-primetime tool yet.

I say this because as slick as it is, it doesn't provide required functionality to do portions that are as important or more important (like automated installs)

Somewhere here it'd be good if they were linked on the main page.. the top links just go to the XP driver sets; along with some sort of walkthrough.. god, I'd kill for a good Base application for Vista wink

No special drivers.  I've used the Mitsumi combo drive (3.5" floppy/card reader) and the Vantec card reader.  I've also tried a few externals.  They all show up, but when you put a card in them, nothing happens.  I've run into this numerous times no matter how I use the driverpacks.. but if I don't slipstream them in (I use method 2) then the card readers work fine (?)  They are all NF4 chipset boards.

First, love the driver packs, great to slipstream with.

But, using almost any board I've tested, if I use the Mass Storage Driver Pack, I run into a strange issue: USB Card Readers become non-functional.  They show up within My Computer, etc. it's just no matter what is in them it's "unrecognized" and will not function.

Booting into XP64 or anything else shows the card readers are connected.  Have tried with six different kind of card readers and installs on six different motherboards (mostly Nvidia SLI or 6150 MBs).  If I don't use Mass Storage Driver Pack, I don't run into this issue.

Any thoughts?
