I notice you skipped mass text mode?

Thanks for reporting sir!

PS please report on beta / test versions in the testing team forum tongue smile wink

@zee - Demerit awarded tongue

per our "Posting Guidelines"
If you create a post that says "I am looking for a driver for" then you will be awarded a demerit wink.

Welcome to DriverPacks (please read the rules)

@jinkazama - You rock!

http://www.drowaelder.de/winpe/PEIndex.htm
NForceAll-RIS-V2

Basically Joshua built the best driverset for nvidia NICs using Nvidia supplied RIS drivers.
UBCD4Win included them in previous versions, before DriverPacks.
IDK of we included V1 or V2 of his drivers in the past.
IDK if we still include them, If not we should, for the same reasons as above. wink

Yes you are correct no entries means it is included.
We only need to create entries to eliminate conflicts.
Create an entry to exclude a known "problem" driver.
IE DON'T create an entry for the RIS folder... but DO create an entry for the driver it replaces big_smile!

Does that help?

I am not sure about sysprep proceedure with OLSP... I defer to the crazy sysprepers of our forum wink tongue

But regarding the driver installation...

1) You simply call sysprep.inf with dp_inst_tool.cmd being called under 'runonce'.
SAD M2 is better than extracting and running devpath on C:\D because the drivers remain archived.
This saves you around 1 gig on your image

Notes: Your other method would work as long as you don't EVER use KTD.
Simply running devpath on the c:\d\ folder was all that was needed.
KTD was killing you. As previously stated do not run makepnf...
KTD uses makepnf... Therefore you failed big_smile. (Because you inadvertently used makepnf)

or

2) You could combine devpath and dp install tool methods together.
    Create a SAD M1 folder
     -  Be sure to enable QSC so you won't have to cab compress a pack more than once. wink
QSC (Quick Stream Cache) keeps a copy of the cabbed drivers for M1 slipstreams.
(The first run is slow because they are cabbed with makecab.exe, after the first run they are simply copied.)
Copy everything from the driverpacks.net M1 folder to c:\
    Run devpath on C:\D
    Call dp_inst_tool.cmd under 'runonce'

this Hybrid method both makes the drivers available to minisetup and runs the dpinst.exe and the DriverPacks Finisher. Effectively making two passes on the machine to ensure drivers are fully installed. Some drivers require two passes. IE you cant install a HDA device unless the HDA bus driver is installed first. chipset drivers have to be installed before drivers that rely on chipset etc...

In many cases dpinst.exe works fine but some failures have been reported in the forum.

Please note that even though M1 will take a long time to run on your first time it will save you a huge amount of space over simply extracting them.

Definately use the mass storage pack! (as long as you don't use makepnf or KTD it will not crash!)

I hope that helps

We have been doing this since 2004... Do you see any posts about bad drivers wink.
We work VERY hard to provide the most stable drivers available and to also keep them current.
We only add drivers DIRECTLY from Chipset sources like Nvida, Realtek, Intel and ATI.
We also include drivers DIRECTLY from reputable OEMs like Dell and HP, and only when absolutely necessary.
We NEVER include drivers from third party's precisely for safety reasons...
They could not be any safer if you got them from your mom wink.

Yes you can check the validity of a driver for yourself;
Included in Win XP there is a tool called 'sigverif.exe'. You can run that tool and check the signing of any driver...
If the signature is valid then the files have not been modified and are genuine. (modifying any of a drivers files will break signing)

So... You don't have to take our word for it you can see for yourself!

It's a Good [Question]. I Stickied it and updated your title.
Perhaps worthy of a FAQ, we'll see if one of our Mods agrees an moves it there!

Welcome to DriverPacks

Isn't it on the side of your PC?

It is not likely that you can use something like driver genius to make a driverpack for a printer or scanner...

the better option is to make a pack with the original installer provided by the manufacturer wink

UBCD4Win IS BartPE...

They have just done all the work for you already wink

IE DriverPacks is included, required plugins included, AV programs included, disk tools included, etc...

It is the whole package already assembled waiting for you to supply a copy of XP wink.

agreed ditch KTD in favor of SAD read the dialog i had with quad damage in the skinlayers thread... ([HOWTO] Using DriverPacks w/ Sysprep)

http://driverpacks.net/

check the news on the home page wink

and this mass pack DriverPack MassStorage 10.01.25

he used the Jaak tut wink

please read "Read BEFORE you post" linked in my signature, it details how to request help wink.

Please post your DPs_BASE.log and we will see what went wrong big_smile.

there is no diff between running BASE from pebuilder, except it runs without the GUI... so you can not select which packs you want to build. wink.

M1 is basically retired. 99% of our users use M2. the ONLY thing M1 is good for is a search-able disc.
(M2 can't be searched because the drivers are archived)
IE if you go to device manager and select upgrade driver and select "Search Removable Media".
SAD is really a much better option for this type of situation. wink (DP_Inst_Tool.cmd)

I think he is a spammer the link he posted redirected through a third party website wink.

you don't need to do them all!
How many LAN issues have been reported with BartPE? I would deal with them as / when they are reported wink.
there is probably only a handful that need tagged (just a select few)

PS both of the RIS drivers could go in a folder named PE smile perhaps with the johua drivers (where did those land???)

to be clear I would only do this one driver / folder for now...

PS We used to have the Joshua plugin included in the LAN pack which replaces all the nvidia drivers for PE...
I think it got deleted and the related INI entries sad

if a driver has the same name as another then tag it (similar to mass wink)... yes a select few

well if you put them both in hp1 then the skip command will skip the entire folder... not the result we need wink
the ris drivers will need their own folder wink

Well you can trim the Syprep stuff out on your next go around that code is permanently retired wink
But NBD if it is still in there big_smile. OffLineSysPrep is awesome and there is no sense in my trying to go there, at all...

Thanks a million Jinkazama it's world class guys like you that make us a world class project!

PS You might as well wait until i trim it out of the english version first wink

Well you're really beating yourself up trying to do this manually...

DriverPacks BASE will build a proper plugin for you!

read the DriverPacks BASE BartPE tutorial in my signature... (after re-reading your post i get the impression you did)

Do NOT try to use the drivers folder!
Do NOT extract anything!
Move your drivers folder out of your pe folder entirely (or delete it if you like).

Follow the Tutorial to build a proper PE plugin... (that is why i wrote the code into DriverPacks BASE to build plugins form the packs wink)

you should end up with \plugin\DriverPacks.net\*.*

at the time i wrote the tutorial LAN was not supported... now it is... Simply allow DriverPacks BASE to build your LAN plugin wink. that should solve your Mass and LAN issues entirely (again after a re-read that seemed to be method 2 you refered to)

Let me know how that works! PS I added code tags to your very detailed post (Excellent job!)

I Would like to work on method 2 since that not only fixes it for you but everyone else with your same hardware tongue

Try method 2 on a clean sp2 source and post your DPs_BASE.log and if your pebuilder log shows build errors let's see those.

Jeff

PS the LAN pack includes the "joshua" plugin drivers (or it used to) wink So if you play with adding the josua plugin you're duplicateing them wink

PSS RAID issue? read this thread, re load order and the mass storage INI file http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3907
your fix may be to move the RAID driver section around in the Mass Storage INI wink

If that is the case then those drivers should be added to the pack.
The existing windows drivers in the pack should be marked in the pack INI (with all the above tags) as skip wxp,w2k3 when the RIS drivers are added.

It is important to note that a normal slipstream is NOT affected by these tags! they are only used / relevant for BartPE.

It is also important to note that the RIS drivers are not signed so they should not conflict with their windows counterparts for a normal sliptream for disc installs...

As always thanks for your valuable input cdob!!!! right on target as usual!!!

I belive if this is implemented then we have fixed your issue ef...

Well he did post in the "hardware" forum wink

I tend to agree with both of your points BigBrit...

The Antec true power 550 will deliver 550 watts continuous (100% duty rating) and is the same PS I use in this machine a p4 2.8 HT w/ a 6800GT this machine pulls about 300W and it is a good match... Why strain your PS by running it at 100% duty wink. Give yourself some elbow room tongue. Besides what if you upgrade again?

This is not a noob freindly site... OT questions and help with basics is greatly frowned upon...
This forum is for hardware questions as they relate to drivers. (now you know)

demerit awarded wink tongue !

DO NOT redirect links - squidoo redirect removed

Re duplicate names in separate folders...

I wrote this code last year for bartpe...

Jeff wrote:

By useing the existing mass storage tags i was able to reduce the code required to implement bartpe for the remaining packs. however we will now need to be aware of the new ini entries when we update packs.

basicaly i am useing the section/folder name, the tag name, the sysfile name, and the skipIfOS

[A1]
ms_count                 = 1
ms_1_tag                 = "1asacpi"
ms_1_sysfile             = "asacpi.sys"
ms_1_exc_skipIfOS     = "wxp,w2k3"

the above code marks the entire A1 folder to be skipped for windows XP and windows 2k3
(which means excluded for bartpe since it only supports xp and 2k3)

same as with mass storage - a tag name may not be repeated in an individual INI
the sysfile name can be anything but it makes sense to use a filename in the folder.
the above example is the minimum and only entries supported right now.

to recap all the above entrys must exist
and the "skip" applies to all files in the folder.

when two drivers have the same name the last one processed by BASE wins...
by assinging a unique name for the "tag" value this issue is resolved wink
REMEMBER the tag name must be unique not only to ALL of the packs used for BartPE but also to existing windows files too wink.

I am not sure how I got your nightlies

You did not get our nightlies, the server was reporting an incorrect version to your DriverPacks BASE.
NORMALLY, that message comes up when you are using a nightly... this time it was a server error.
Wim fixed it!

However we are going to make it come back again since you are having trouble with Mass Storage.

Try this pack for 2k3 and let me know if it helps

Mass Storage 10.01.25

Thanks again for reporting!

PS Now you have a nightly wink.
PSS and I know where you got it tongue.
