tried this on an unloved version of XP I have lying around, the precautionary steps was interesting, one bit you delete the other you have to manually clean up garbage to stop issues.... BUT I'd fixed a network issue with Tweaking.com - Windows Repair 3.9.17 tool - and the folder needing manual clean up was already tip top without any erroneous garbage that needed cleaning

3.1a went on with one or two tiny messages through process, rebooted no ill effects, seems good :-)

I REALLY appreciate how tough something like that is to publish.
and how little that effort is recognized or even respected.

There seems to be a quirk with using the DriverPacks along with XP SP4, specifically it doesn't like any of the drivers being kept.

The finisher runs just fine if no drivers are kept, but if any are it crashes out with the message "could not delete DSPdsblr.exe". Tested on a XP pro source with SP4 slipstreamed and no other modifications.

It has been suggested that due to the presence of a few sp4*.* files, the finisher mistakenly believes it's working on Windows 2000.

Desalinization is not really on anyone's agenda. One plant was built for $20+million (US) years ago in Santa Barbara - and closed after less than a year in operation. Now, 15+years later they are spending millions to refurbish it to try again - will have to wait and see how that goes. Some communities are fining people for NOT watering their grass (and, thereby, keeping up appearances) - go figure. The water police are out in some places ticketing people for those watering their grass but allowing street/sidewalk runoff (which I see every day driving around my home town).

I live in the middle of the Mojave Desert so water is an issue and some folks are removing their grass and getting help from the water district. My front/back yards are nothing but desert landscape - no wasteful water here.

Climate researchers are suggesting an "El Nino" may help somewhat this year - will have to wait and see. Last one - about 10-12 years ago - really saturated this area - major flooding.

Still have too many locals refusing to accept 'climate change' as the reason.

Am not yet a member there. It does give me impetus to move towards finalizing the NT5 packs here for a release though. We are a ways off yet, unfortunately.
Any help i can get is appreciated and often credited in changelogs (FWIW), and possibly fitting, as this is a community project. Without community assistance and the will for such, any group endeavour is likely to wither and die of apathy at least.

I would suggest you check with the author at the Ryan site I linked to above and mention the connection with DriverPacks and verify no issues would arise with any mention you make about SP4 and the fact that any user issues are not 'your' responsibility.

Awesome! I can't wait to try it, although need to.
Can anybody share their experience with the XP-SP4 final and integration with DPs_BASE_1006(+) and the current nightly for MassStorage? Should unofficial SP4 be noted in changelog as "available"?
