These kinds of errors are always due to corrupt ISO's or corrupt CDs or DVDs, I'm afraid... Please retry with a different CD-RW or DVD-RW than the one you're currently using.

I am trying to install Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 9200 which has the Intel iastor.sys driver. I download some driverpacks and with driverbase slipstreamed them in so that now it can see the sata drive during textmode.

Once it boots into the gui setup and is at installing windows section after a copy minutes I can a Fatal Error.

Error:
Installation Failed: D:\i386\asms. Error Message: The request could not be performed because of an I/O error.

I have tried several CD-Rs and two differenet XP/SP2 iso images. I get the same error.

Any suggestions? The Dell has two DVD drives connected via SATA cables (1 DVD, 1 DVD-RW) and a SATA 250 GB hard drive. Without doing this integration I couldn't get this far, using a boot disk method would failed because it couldn't find iastor.sys for some reason.

Thanks.
