It never did what it was intended to do, and we always recommend against its use.
SAD is the replacement for KTD.

However, when using the KTD option then the DevicePath is NOT reduced.
See key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
%KTD%\M\AD occurs 20 times and %KTD%\M\L occurs 29 times and %KTD%\M\H occurs 30 times

Is it possible to improve setting the DevicePath for the KTD option
such that each folder occurs only once so that indeed the DevicePath length will be reduced ?
