The driver in AM7 is the newer version of the one most compatible with your system. The driver in AM8 supports your controller ONLY for XP, not Win2k3. If you want to test to see if it works with w2k3, then open M\AM8\ahcix86.inf
and change:

Then try to "force load" the driver into your running system and see if it works.

AM7: DriverVer=07/01/2009, 3.1.1540.151 (older, more compatible)
AM8: DriverVer=11/17/2011, 3.3.1540.26 (newer, untested)

Just because a driver is newer, does NOT make it better. Let us know how your testing goes.

I have the result of the member of my community with Hardware AMD 790GX (Asrock 790Gmh) (see HWID here am poste 40) :
When installed, it has this

- Texte setup mode : AHCIX700 and no Bug
- GUI setup mode : AHCIX86.sys v3.1.1540.151 and no Bug

Under Windows

and no Bug

When he install AMD chipset 12.04 (AMD_12-4_xp32-64_sb.exe) :

When he install "AMD RAID 12.04 (12-4_xp32-64_raid.exe)" :

by my Hardware i can choice the RAID driver (but I have not tested yet)
Why the difference ?

That's because the driver that's most compatible with your hardware is the older version, but I disabled it in favor of the new version on Flecky's request.

Text Mode setup I have the drivers AHCIX700
In GUI setup mode I have AHCIX86.sys v3.1.1540.151
Under Windows my controller is no longer recognized as SATA but RAID

Then strangely under Windows when I try to install Drivers "AMD Chipset 12.04 (12-4_xp32-64_sb.exe)" it does not offer me the most SATA drivers, the drivers "AMD RAID 12.04 (12-4_xp32-64_raid. exe) "offers me the driver v3.3.1540.26

hello, I tested and text mode it's okay, i have the driver ahcix700.sys but in GUI mode pc does not boot after install, I think we should to rename the driver in ahcix86 to make it work, we can test with the driver AM8? version 3.3xx?
why I have a SB9xx and I must use an old driver? Because i have server 2003?

Edit: my AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller does not install in GUI mode, that's why my pc does not boot.

Hi, it's me again, I still have the same driver in GUI mode (AHCIX86 v.3.1.1540.86 for AM6) and it does not work for me, the PC does not boot, as amd_sata does not work either in mode txt, this is the same problem as the version 12.03. i need driver for AM7.
