) trying to get 7.x64 onto a DFI nForce 4 Ultra-D with an AMD-X2(now SLI & SATA2 RAID - thanks to adding a solder bridge on chipset & modding bios for latest RAID utility 
). 7 didn't even want to install @ first (thanx to nv's lack of logo'd SATA RAID drivers, etc).
It turned out that i needed a special boot cd to even get that far. Even after solving the SATA RAID logo issue (many, many thanks to Fernando 1!), the bluescreen issue reared it's ugly head. It turned out that the issue was somehow related to the SMB driver.
My brother doesn't even realize how indebted to F1 he is, yet i'm very thankful, as i was able to save face after gifting (for his birthday) what looked, at first, like defective hw.
I SLAVED a whole day over a hot (under-the-collar) employer (actually he was rather jovial) , to be able to afford the X2 & the 20x10x7 cm cooler mister 6-heatpipe cooler! 
I don't want to turn this post into a bash-nv'fest (that would be TOO easy - g86 BUMPGATE).

BEWARE, incorrectly applied BIOS modifications can render your hardware INOPERATIVE! You may think you know what you are doing, yet still end up with 'dead' hardware. It NEVER hurts to ask questions (sometimes it's the answer that hurts!:rolleyes:) Is your SiI RAID card BIOS socketed? (square chip - PLCC32, or DIP32 - DualInlinePackage?) If so, who is the manufacturer of the BIOS chip & what are the numbers on it? It might make parr-for-the-course to flash a spare (only if compatible, though)
Funny thing with my SiI 680A cards, i was able to mod BASE BIOS v3.4.0 http://www.siliconimage.com/support/sea … 5&os=0
to RAID, just by changing the PnP ID's @ the EOF. Tested & verified (by me) support in RAID to 1TByte.:cool:
I just need to acquire a BluRay drive to verify compliance (as SiI indicated). It's so nice to have cards manufactured in 2002-3 with BIOS's from 2009 running them!
I have a pair of nForce 2 boards & a nforce 4 Intel Ed. that i'm willing to 'guinea-pig', yet it will have to wait until next friday(edit: postponed til May). I've been looking forward to testing the 'SoundStorm' capabilities on both (even though one doesn't officially support:rolleyes:).
Perhaps, for personal development, 'optional IDE driver registry cleaner (made by TwL)' could help avoid interference of other driver versions.
Forgive my impudence, would SATA, & PATA (IDE & RAID) v6.99 be possible for nForce4 series boards - other than Intel (see lack of supported HW for 4xx series)? http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.23.html
