That driver is a direct replacement for both DriverPack Sound B \I\ and \I7\
It looks like a solid newer generic replacement. I'll get to work putting it in a release candidate!

I found the proper Audio driver for N5010 IDT sound card at last. 100% tested and fully functional. I got it from Lenovo's website:

Share it with anyone who may need it, I am sure too many people are looking for it now.

Thank you for explanation. N5010 laptop is relatively new and one of the latest Dell laptop mainstreamed. I believe it is something related to hardware becasue I tried a fair number of N5010s and no success at all. I am wondering if Mr. Seahate really installed his sound correctly, if so I apreciate if he shares his experience with me. I am getting really puzzled by this problem.

code 10 "usually" means that the device is not functioning properly (hardware failure... IE "is it plugged in").

Sometimes this error will show up on old MBs where interrupt conflicts prevented a device from communicating properly.

It may be the driver... but that specific error makes the device itself (hardware) suspect.

Thank you, using a proxy solved the problem and I got the file. I am from Iran and my falied attempt were on 29th and 30th of August. I tried the solution suggested by mr_smartepants but the driver failed to work. The device is moved from unknown devices to "Sound, video and game controllers" but there is a yellow mark on it and it does not work. When I open the device properties it says "The device could not start (Code 10)". Does anybody have any idea about this? I tried XP SP2 and SP3 and I installed the KB888111 patch as well, none of these tricks worked for me.

Can you tell us where you downloaded (region / country) and what time? So we can forward that to support at our download provider (Simple CDN).

If you use a proxy you can easily get the file off of a different simple CDN server cluster. (Google "open proxy") By using a proxy in another country location you can fool the CDN into providing the content from a server close to the proxy instead of close to you . simple cdn's network automatically provides the content from the closest / least loaded server.

Hi;
I have the same laptop model too with eaxclty the same Hardware ID written above. I tried to download sound B several times but there seem to be a problem. Once the download reaches at 58.7MB it is halted! It happened 4 times and each time exactly at the same point! Maybe the file is corrupt, would you please check it? Or, is it possible to have that individual driver to avoid downloading the big file?

an error occured during istallation of the device

the class installer has denied the request to install or upregrade this device
