Conexant acquired the PC audio codec division of ADI, now Conexant manufactures codecs under license from ADI.

This division may already have been acquired by another "corporate entity". (i love that moniker - cue the x-files theme song)

The only way to avoid a lack of drivers when, inevitably, companies change hands, is for a dedicated third-party team to obtain, archive, catalog, & test the latest drivers from OEM sources, & keep abreast of corporate acquisitions. (nothing to do with Spanish Inquisition, i swear!) Oh yeah, that third-party is DriverPacks.net!

@anbu2020 I do not have internet connection before few days and I faced the same problem. Still I am in dilemma how to update windows without having internet connection. Is it possible through a third party hardware like pen drive...... Anyways, Now I have internet connection but I want to know that........

The problem is not IBM/Lenovo but ADI SoundMAX. Analog Devices got out of making sound chips and since they no longer make the chips they no longer make drivers and most OEMs have been using SoundMAX. Do not expect to see Windows 7 drivers from Analog Devices.

Analog Devices had a really bad policy of only giving drivers to OEMs and each device has different drivers. But the actually code is virtually the same and still no unified drivers.

And now Connexant has picked up where SoundMAX left off and the OEMs just keeping using this garbage so in a few years no drivers for the current chips either.

I have a friend who doesn't know anything about computers. He has a IBM Thinkpad R52. He was running Windows XP in it. But it had alot of viruses and I had to reformat and reinstall Windows 7 32-bit Since I did not have the XP or Vista CD/DVD. It worked well, the only problem is that I went to their websites and I found Drivers for Audio and VGA, but they are all either for Window Xp or Vista. There is no Driver for Widows 7 32-bit at all. Some blogger suggested that the Drivers for Windows Vista should work for Windows 7 32-bit, but the problem is I don't know where to download those drivers from. In their website it says you have to run Windows update for your Vista Drivers to be installed, but the problem is I don't have interenet Connection to his laptop, cuz he doesn't have anything at all. I found some websites that you have to pay but I don't wanna go for them, cuz its not my own laptop and plus most of Drivers are free on the web.
