separate post.
suites with configurable AV can be configured.

a basic AV plug-in has no CPL.
I can not tell a OA+ user how to omit folders 'on acces"
OA FW (no AV) still has a good FW and HIPS feature.
That in itself is a problem for DriverPacks BASE and 7z.
I use avast alongside OA+.
Hence the need for an other live metal dedicated DriverPacks cruncher.

Jeff, Online armor firewall has a variant called OA+ with kaspersky AV for OA+basic licenced in-line AV (a sandboxed pass-through) and you would not believe the number of warn triggers DriverPacks BASE causes.

PS since those files get edited Four or five hundred times during the slipstream of mass storage that would mean that your virus scanner would have scanned them each time . HINT: On some scanners you can indicate folders that are not to be 'on access' scanned.

Now i got to 7 min 19 sec AFTER closing Firefox 3.0.4 witch had 4 tabs opened 2 of them were forumes with graphics.

have you checked your system error log/event viewer to see if there is anything there, such as disk errors or anti-virus alerts?

Depends on the PC you are using. I use an Intel quad core with 4 gigs and it takes 7 minutes 30 seconds.
15 minutes is not excessive.

AMD MB's seem to run faster at slipsteaming.

this was a clean source [untouched] of windows xp sp1
same thing happened with sp2 version [integrated using the command line or the run command]

i have another clean source for windows xp MCE consists of 2 cds

15 min ??? wow... that is a long time to edit a couple of text files...
this should take seconds even though the files are opened and closed many times during this step.
the files are open/closed for each line edit made. (the alternate options to do what we need to do are no better)

i belive this indicates corruption of the txtsetup.sif (and) or dosnet.inf file(s)

Especialy since the biggest task here should have been cab compressing the mass storage drivers.
That apparently took about one minute

thx 4 the advice I'm actually a pc tech [it's what i do for living]

I mentioned in the main post that i used to do so in less than 3 minutes
the only different between my current configs and the last one is that the main hard drive is WD 250 GB PATA
instead of the SAMSUNG 160 GB PATA & windows sp3 instead of sp2.

BTW, I've been using DriverPacks base since 4th Q of 2007 and never had such problem.

What kind of disk drive do you have?

On my C2D E6850 (3gz), 4 GB ram, 7200 rpm SATA-2 drives, integrating all of the driverpacks as well as 3 or 4 third party packs, the process completes in about 100 seconds.

On my older Athlon MP (2.3 Gz), 2 Gb ram, 3600 rpm IDE drive, I would always go away for a drink of water and a little TV during driver pack integration. Seriously, it would take that long.

Good news is that to upgrade to a new mobo, CPU, ram, and disk drive is in the neighborhood of $500-.
