perhaps you could look at what RS's AI does and see if it will work with your scenario

I'm trying to achieve a "hardware independent" deployment framework using Altiris Deployment Server and its Scripted OS Install Job (RIS on speed, basically). I thought I'd give DriverPacks a try.

Has anyone done something similar? I'm struggling a bit. Sometimes the install will hang in the GUI setup phase at "Detecting devices", with an empty cmd-shell on top. Other times, the install goes through, but complains that it cannot find C:\DPsFnshr.exe.

Any assistance appreciated.
