I use Sysprep and during the device discovery on first boot, my script was installing the drivers, but at the same time I installed a driver by hand with the 'New Hardware' wizard, and it installed two drivers. Two control panels and all. I redid it without doing any wizard and it was fine.

You can get winmerge, and compare extracted DriverPacks with that.

Does the new sound driver packs, (8.04 (12 april 2008)), include the fix for my sound card? I'm currently using the test driver packs that were given to me. They are version 8.042. Thanks.

Jaak,

Those test packs did the trick for the sound driver. However, now I'm getting a blue screen because the "Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family" seems to install two control panels. When I run the panel it crashes and gives me a BSOD of "Driver has overrun a stack-based buffer". When I uninstall the control panels I no longer get the blue screen.

The device is a Ven_8086 Dev_2582.

Any suggestions?
(maybe delete one of the Intel folders from the pack?)

Dell 745?
and the other is?

note to Jeff; sound B; sigmatel in Z2 had two "super generic" and I disabled them.
Then, for each specific line it also had a generic. I disabled generic 7690.

lets see your base.ini and log these will show if 888111 is installed.
if I386\svcpack\KB888111.cat exists in your source it might be added, but not properly added
if it does not exist then it is definitely not added.

if your hda is failing then 888111 is not slipstreamed / installed.
I suspect this is a sysprep issue it's definately not a base / DriverPacks issue.
(ps SysPrep is not supported by DriverPacks - but someone may post a solution.)
(pss this should be in the installation platforms forum)

xp SP3 may also eliminate your problem.

on the machine that has this problem what happens if you manually install 888111 and then manually reinstall the sound drivers?
