zhanDhuo or zhan Dhuo (and lookalikes) have been around for a while.
You can find utilities like this while tracking back to the days of 8 bits.
We want a good sub sys foirmware grabber. (as a yonker says it)
YOU need firmware subsys read at 32 bits or @64 and 32 compatible, not a guessworking txtreader.

You need a firmware reader for a good install.
You need drivers.

HardWare IDentification -HWID- number
That is the number that a device (like a video card) reports to windows.
Every device is supposed to have a unique HWID.
Windows uses this unique number to look for a matching number in a drivers internal list.
If the HWID in the drivers inf matches with the reported HWID from the device then the driver is considered as a valid match by plug and play.

Forgive me, but what is an "hwid"..? I'm kinda new at this, but I want to learn how to use this to help me identify unknown hardware.

I haven't done this all that often, but I've found that entering a hwid into Google almost always returns an accurate result.

Has anyone played with this? Does it work?
I just downloaded it but I don't have a system with any unidentified items to try and 'identify'.
