You slipstreamed the entire official driverpacks MassStorage 8.02.1 pack
which is the ONLY way to get it to work...
(without manually editing files in the I386 folder)

third party packs only work for plug and play not for finding a hard drive for installing windows
I am one of the authors of the base program so i am not making stuff up because i am bored.
you can't get text mode support from a 3rd party DriverPack PERIOD!
if you doubt me still - try removing the mass storage pack from the base\driverpacks\ folder and then do a test install.

Well i surtently did not select the mass storage pack. But yes i gues to that the text mode info is used from the mass storage pack. It does write a lot of info (i think from the official mass storage pack to txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf) I try and test tomorrow with the official packs removed. Sow the will only be my 3rd party driverpacks

Last week i alsow fond somone els that did make two 3dr party driverpacks for mass storage. You can find the links here:

I have a look into costomising the official masstorage dp comming time.

so its not the 3rd party DriverPack that is finding your HDD in text mode, however the PnP driver does get picked up from your pack.
That is the way i would expect that it would and should work.

If you really were trying to cut down on your size (not that 28 meg is huge or anything) you could edit the mass storage pack and eliminate the un-needed drivers. i posted a link for that above.

I am quite certain that textmode drivers are not added from a 3rd party DriverPack

My (1 device) small sata driver will be added to the oem folder. Driverpack Base will just write all sata info to the files. Sow 3rd party masstore dp will work. I did with DPs_BASE_7052 Still need to test with: DPs_BASE_801RC2

Here is the overview of settings i used:

DriverPack method: 2
Finisher methode: RunOnceEx (default)
Driverpacks: 3rd party

Optional settings:
KTD: disabled

As Isaid 3rd party DriverPack doesn't work for text mode support (and is why you have to hit f6)

that is why we have the mass storage textmode feature.
it's only 28 meg and supports over a thousand HDD controller types.
That means never haveing to hit f6 ever again...

PS if you insist that this is still to big the mass storage pack can be modified (yes we have heard of custom made)

i cant imagine it works. since it is not in the mass storage pack it would not be sliptreamed in for use in text mode so the SATA HDD would not be visible to partition and format. Oh well as long as they are happy.

Well i got it to work. I hit F6 and got the change to pick the right file. The information slipstreamed for use in text mode is going pritty fast but it went just like with the official mass starage DP. (My sata driver is alsow in the official pack) I alsow used the $OEM$ folder option. That only fully worked after using the options of dps_base.exe

Did you ever hear of costum made? Well i like to make costum made xp cd's. I the case of my laptop i only took the drivers i needed. Things i have in mind are slimming down in every way thats easy for me. Alsow cutting down install time a bit.

Its a amazing thing the official DP can support thousends of hardware pieces. Goodwork! I personally dont have the time to help with the DP's. I'm sorry about that.

4.8 megabyte of weirdiness with 1532 unique hardware IDs not supportd by windows setup.
Five lines with 24 HWIDs in it can make us spend days of testing with no result.
