lots of things may cause "Where did you get that"
- not connected to internet
- firewall blocking access
- server not available

It usually means that you are trying out a test pack
Bâshrat the Sneaky has a few tounge in cheek error messages like this one.

My problem is solved exept for the latter of the notifications.
I did a clean install but i think it's the server here i couldnt connect today because MySQL did not work on driverpacks.

Where did you get that means that the version is not verifyable to the server list
this may mean the server was unavailable when you requested. it may mean you have a bunch iof test packs too... ;-)

the rest of the section is just to make the finisher run the exe since the exe is not there no finishing required.
therefore section not required - you may also notice most of the driversw don't have any entries. if a driver has a section it is by my definition an "exception"

please remember that the finisher does not install drivers... (so yes it will still be installed) it adds things that are not installed by the drivers inf file (it adds control panels and start menu shortcuts that kind of stuff)

I have got the same problem here as above since updating the mass storage yesterday.
Another error i have is this:

I get this at random times, while slipstreaming or even whenever i am not yet slipstreaming (i use Vista)

And when checking for "updates"

the latest version on the site for sound b is 7.10.1 and that is what I have, which according to the changelog on the page says something about removing that exe you are talking about, but must have just forgotten to update the inf...

there weren't ever any hard feelings... please understand that... I realize I was late posting my logs... I apologize... and the night I tried posting them I got really frustrated because the board kept timing out and either it wouldn't post or for some reason it was causing me to double/triple post... so I gave up after posting the finisher log...

I really do appreciate EVERYONE's input as it has helped me understand some things better.

O.K. one last question... I actually have a DMX 6Fire soundcard, do I need to delete that entire section of the inf, or just the reference to the T_DMX.exe? Removing that section won't prevent it from installing the drivers I need, is all I'm asking I guess... sorry for the ignorance.

I had every reason to belive you never tried a clean install so where was i to start troubleshooting?
you gave me one log to go on... in your 15 posts about this.

Your Logs allow me to see why things happen, that is why we log...
the log would have told me what was different about your system - everyone else has no problem

your HWID's from the one log you provided put me there.

Had that been in your first post instead of two weeks later... then you wouldnt feel like you do about me.

look I'm not trying to argue here, just trying to find a solution... because I get this error NO MATTER HOW DPsFnshr.exe is called, whether it's from a normal DP_BASE install. I have tried GUIRunOnce & Custom (manually double clicking the exe in windows explorer that is copied to C:\ via DP_BASE) and my script. I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel with my script, just had it there for redundancy so it could be run if for some reason the DP_BASE didn't do it's job the first time.

I have NOT ignored ANYTHING anyone of you has said.

My main question in the first place still hasn't been answered, what "external program" is it (DPsFnshr.exe) trying to "execute"????

It isn't a matter of DPsFnshr.exe not being in the proper place as it is DPsFnshr.exe which is spitting the error...

what the point of your last comment is I have no idea as I never once said anything about being or claiming to be the first dual boot(er) here... I only stated my intentions... jeez

As I have also stated earlier in this thread DPsFnshr.exe (7.01.6) works flawlessly at finishing on this same exact source (only difference being the BASE)

as for the registry entry I know it isn't being overwritten as WPI is called @ entry 999 and I have Finisher set via BASE to be called @ 937 or whatever the default is.

You have written a lot of code to to fail to do a process that is built in to the base...

and the built in version works flawlessly.

if you insist it doesnt - then run it normaly (no custom scripts) and produce your logs

the ONLY reason it would not run is if you overwrite the registry entry for finisher with another registry entry like this

overwriteing a registry entry example DON'T DO THIS:

to Tiger: yes i know what you mean about the folders, that is what I had done. Put files in $OEM$\$1 but hadn't tried putting them in $OEM$\$$ (that is what I was asking about putting them in systemdrive ($OEM$\$1) or systemroot ($OEM$\$$))

Overflow: I had actually caught that :CHECK2 (:DOPNFCHECK2) error already... didn't realize I had posted that version of my script though... sorry... I'm not a script kiddie... and not asking you to debug my cmd/bat file I just posted it just an enthusiast trying to get the most out of an unattended xp cd... as I said earlier, I dual boot XP so I can have one setup isolated for audio production.

Simply disableing a drive in the bios is not enough to keep windows from finding a drive... you may have to completely remove it
or you may have to use systemroot\..\ instead of systemdrive which may become muddled on a dual boot system. since the system drive is the boot drive not the installation drive. in theory this would not matter and should proceed normaly. send us your logs (see below)

1 try just running base on a clean source (no nlite no ryanvm no nothing) select custom for the finisher. and dont run it at all...

take a good look ath the source disk folders and then do a VMware install and look at the folders particularly SystemDrive and systemdrive\d\

2 run base on a clean source (no nlite no ryanvm no nothing) select guirunonce for the finisher.

if this dose not work show us your DPs_BASE.ini and DPs_BASE.log and \WINDOWS\dpsFnshr.log

i for one dont really care to trouble shoot / syntax check your code - that is not our niche. this isnt the script kiddie forum.
that said... you code is doomed to fail

refers to a missing location :CHECK2 therefore anytime chipset was included your script would crash... and i assume you did no error trapping when you call this command? or you would have known this already.

use it the way is was intended first (out of the box if you will) before you try to reinvent the wheel.

the three stooges go out and get a station wagon with the wood side panels they take it home an proceed to tear all the paneling off...
They stand back and take a look at it afterwards and one looks at the other and says "I liked it better in the box"

You have to use the OEMPreinstall folders on the CD source - not your current systemroot or systemdrive.

The way the "$OEM$\$$\" folder works, is it copies all of the files inside that folder to the systemroot when you install windows. This solves the issue of not being able to find certain files when you unpack everything from the DPsFnshr.7z in there. "$OEM$" lies next to "I386" on your install CD. You also have to set OEMPreinstall correctly in your winnt.sif file for it to copy the files over.

actually do you mean %systemdrive% or %systemroot%? I put it manually to %systemdrive% but not to the %systemroot%... I must have misunderstood... anyways... as noted above I have a temporary fix, but am not so sure of how good of a fix it is... don't know the differences between 7.01.6 and 7.05.2 finishers.
