Sorry for sounding harsh. I didn't understand what you meant.

I did some 'googling' myself and came up with this thread.

Basically, the owner just used drivers meant for the VGN-FE31M and all was well.

hello, obviously the model is the same:sony FE41 (like reported in the other thread)
the video problem WAS solved, the audio, reading the previous posts, too
but there are some other problems like the webcam, and the power management
google seems not help, and so i tryed to ask here (i know is a OT, but i hope in some answers)

I read your post four times and I still have no idea what you're asking. Are you asking about the notebook in THIS thread, the notebook in your OTHER thread (which you should have posted there) or this mystery HP notebook of your friends (needs NEW thread)?
Also, are you asking about a sound driver or a video driver?
This area is for sound drivers, and this thread specifically is regarding the Sony notebook in the title...nothing else.

They ususally do.
Personally, I haven't seen a notebook myself where they didn't (not to say it doesn't happen, though).
Even on Linux you have a pretty good chance by now it works right away.

and Audio - the nightmare.

Probably just due to the missing HDA hotfix (KB888111).

This always is a problem with HDA (HighDef. Audio) and not limited to Sigmatel specifically.

HI WORLD!
I recently downgraded my Vista VAIO to XP Vaio (clever ha?). So i faced a few problems but the audio is the wors one.
Those f***i*g Sigmatel audio chip - instead of common Intel (!). So other drivers more or less functioning (FN key?),
and Audio - the nightmare.

So - download and install:
1. MS hotfix KB835221 (find SP26334.exe but not for HP!) - 19.782kb
2. MS hotfix KB888111 -667kb
3. STDAUD-01108005-UN -5.092kb
4. try Realtek audio driver: R114282.exe -6.286kb

Good Luck! Vaio - Ok hardware, lousy support!

DPs_BASE.log is in your DriverPacks directory (from where you run BASE) and DPsFnshr.log is in %Systemroot%.

I do think you know how to run a Windows file search, though, right...?

Have you slipstreamed an Update Pack, such as RyanVM?
Or, if not, have you manually added the HDA Hotfix (KB888111) by chance?
Please also post DPs_BASE.log and DPsFnshr.log!

Hello, ok i know like loads of ppl have problems downgrading to windows xp from vista, tbh i dont know why is it really hard to understand the winvista is a pile of crap.....well anyways i bougth this laptop and of couse ive been 2 days trying drivers, i just made a 10 gig partition and dual installed winxp and vista so i could test everything before erasing vista.

So far ive have gotten all the drivers except the sound drivers, wich are giving me the code 10 error as usual.

I installed all the modem sound drivers and all its just that the Sigmatel HD audio is not working. Consider that ive tried everything i could get my hands on, if anyone can give me some hint in how to solve it could be very nice.
