Hi everyone!

long time lurker, first time poster. we are having issues with dome dell sx280s we have. I've narrowed this down to the graphics pack B (DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_705.7z), i.e. it works with all other packs integrated except packB, but when pack b is integrated the following happens.

Windows install stalls, (the progress indicator slows to a crawl on the bottom right hand corner of the screen) at approx the 36 mins left mark of the windows gui install. (this is during the hardware detection phaze) I have tried leaving it overnight, and it still hasn't finished in the morning.

According to http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-o … ml?tag=nav
the gfx card is an integrated Intel GMA 900

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions i'd love to hear them!

W.

==edit==

I have looked on the dell suport site, and they offer a download of 915G Graphics Controller driver for this machine, so maybe that's what it has. I'll confirm wiith a knoppix disk shortly...

==update==

The driver that dell supplies calls itself:

Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express

and the device manager is asking for:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2582&SUBSYS_01791028

I have grepped through the D\G\I folder and there is no ref to this SUSBYS key (refered to in the inf as Grantsdale) so i guess it's just not supported by the pack yet.

The driver (version 01/23/2005,6.14.10.4020) is available from http://support.euro.dell.com/support/to … ile=124431

A newer version looks like it is available from intels site:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloa … p;lang=eng

but on inspecting the inf, the SUSSYS key is not found, which is odd. Intel must have dropped support for this card from later versions of the pack.

If i were to continue, i'd check to see what other cards have been dropped, but as i now have a solution (by way of a custom 3rd party pack) I'm goingto stop here. I have subscribed to this thread, so please let me know if you need any more info.

W.
