Definately, and I'm not doubting that, however, I had similar issues with the sort-of German version of Ryan's Pack, Sereby's (which, unfortunately is on halt now thanks to some "nice" letters from MS, desperately searching for a German-based (no translation for Ryan's available as I can see) Update Pack, btw!).

What I am trying to say is, this one is not in our hands to fix, I guess, but rather the Update Pack creator's.
(provided the DriverPack Sound B did as it told and not re-applied KB888111)

Better take it over to Ryan's forum, IMO, or at least make them aware of this thread.

No, but probably not properly applied by Ryan's.

DriverPacks BASE does not re-apply the fix because that could break some stuff and trusts in the Update Pack to have properly applied it already.

Helmi's correct, integrating KB888111 twice into your source may break some dependencies.  I'm not clear on the specifics, but RyanVM & Bâshrat the Sneaky collaborated on that function of the DPBase for this specific problem.

Probabaly missing the HDA hotfix, hence, the actual HDA driver cannot get installed as the device is not being detected.
As the modem also runs on HDA for these audio chipsets, it is naturally also affected.

The drivers from Dell's site probabaly come with a real installer and you did not only right-click the INFs to install it.
Hence, it will also supply and install the HDA hotfix in the process (maybe unnoticed by you).

Do you use any Update Packs on your UWXPCD that already include the hotfix?
If not, can we see your DPs_BASE.log and DPsFnshr.log files, please?

I am actually using unattended from unattended.sourceforge.net. In my case, I don't use a CD.....I am using PXE boot.

My image is XP with SP2 and RyanVM's PostSP2 pack both applied via nLite......once thats finished I apply the Driverpacks via DPs_Base.EXE.

I have noticed that the DPs_Base window does say that it detects RyanVM's pack and so will not apply the HDA fix (KB888111).....I thought this was how it was supposed to work.....

I just thought I would add my 2c to this. I have the same problem with a Dell Latitude D820 and the Sigmatel Stac 92XX C-Major HD Audio device.
I have also seen the same problem with another Latitude (a really neat light and small laptop....sorry can't remember the model number).

In my case, after installation (on both laptops), I end up with an unidentified PCI device listed in the Device Manager......however, as it turns out I am missing 2 devices (although Device Manager doesn't seem to show this).....the Sigmatel 92XX and also a Conexant D110 modem (even though I have include the 3rd Party Modem driver pack DP_Modem_wnt5_x86-32_702mod.7z)

I know this group is only for the Sound driverpack, but it appears that the modem and the audio device are related.....in order to get everything working, I have to:

* First install the modem driver using setup.exe in the driver from the Dell website (ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/comm/R90851.EXE).
* Then I have to install the Sigmatel Driver again using the setup.exe in the driver from the Dell website (same as mentioned earlier - http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R122161.EXE).

....and it doesn't work properly unless I do it in that order.

Until now, I have just resorted to manually performing the above steps after the OS installation is completed.

Apologies if this has been covered already.....however I didn't see a post linking the modem and audio driver on a Dell D820.

The driver you posted is older then the one that is already present in the pack.

As you can see there are still several Dell laptops here not getting their sound driver installed - could the driver referenced above be put in an additional folder in the "D" (Dell) folder of the sigmatel/C-major section?
