Plug and Play monitors can transmit their capabilities through the cable; the only thing missing is the ICM profile. Most monitors can do this unless they're really old.

I prefer not to use the driver for my ViewSonic G220fb because the driver prevents the use of 2048x1536, but the monitor is quite capable of displaying it.

ic, thanks for the info. yeah i'm currently thinking if i will be replacing my crts with lcds... they're making my place a bit crowded

Generally speaking, monitor drivers are nothing more than a definition of the refresh rates, capabilities, etc and optionally, a color profile. I've been getting a pretty good deal lately on Acer 17" LCDs and they have no drivers of any kind. At first this threw me off because I was pretty used to loading up the drivers for the Samsung and Benq flat panels we had been getting.

anyones knows any driver for this monitor? tried searching but ith no luck or plug and play monitor don't have drivers at all?
